IMPACT CRAIGAVON
is an initiative by
Craigavon Baptist Church
WHO IS BEHIND IMPACT CRAIGAVON?
Craigavon Baptist Church is located right in the heart of Craigavon. An area that was once hailed in the 70's as the 'new city' format for the United Kingdom. Craigavon has had a very chequered and troubled past in it's short 40 year history. A never ending maze of housing estates and more recently, new developments from private developers as they move in to take over vacant land masses that show the failure of the 'new city' dream as attempted by 'visionary developers' of the past. Craigavon typifies a modern mix typical of most major cities today. Those who have and those who have not. Those who valiantly struggle each day to make ends meet and to make the most of the lives they lead for their families in the midst of a secularised and increasingly polarised society. Craigavon presents a social challenge to us, as a church, almost as much as it is a daily life challenge for the people and the young people in Craigavon who live here.
The people of the church have a vision and a heart to impact that community with not only the good news of the gospel but to present a positive image and testimony to the life changing and life shaping power of God. We believe the church should be a relevant and relational church bringing the message of hope to those around us who have been let down by society and circumstances in the past. For many of us, God has revolutionised and intervened in our own lives and we believe it is incumbent on us as part of the family of God to show God's love and the positive message of the gospel of Christ in many ways. IMPACT CRAIGAVON is just one of those ways we want to take that message to the community around us.
